Belt and Road International Laboratory for Innovative Traditional Medicine Research

Belt and Road International Laboratory for Innovative Traditional Medicine Research (Joint Laboratory) is initiated by the Alliance. Representatives from units including Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine, Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sichuan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, China Academy of Sciences, Sichuan Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine proposed the establishment during the 2023 Presidents' Forum and it was approved by the Chairman of the Alliance. The Joint Laboratory aims to facilitate communication and collaboration in innovative research on traditional medicine among research and development units along the Belt and Road, especially within the Alliance.

 

A Management Committee of the Joint Laboratory will be set up, composing of representatives nominated by members and recommended by the Chairman of the Alliance. Director of the Joint Laboratory is appointed by members of the Alliance, ensuring compliance with regulations and laws, and executing decisions made by the management committee.

 

Members of the Joint Laboratory can organize academic activities, research exchanges, and collaborations under the name of the laboratory, apply for funds, accept donations, with activity proposals requiring prior approval by the Alliance. Members of the Joint Laboratory are required to allocate no less than RMB 1,000,000 annually, with 30% designated for personnel exchanges (training fees, scholarships, visiting scholars, and trainers' living expenses, etc.). Funding sources include earmarked allocations, government-sponsored funds, and donations. The laboratory is equipped with advanced research equipment and facilities, overseen by management personnel for daily operations.

The Alliance does not assume legal responsibilities for members and their collaborative outcomes. Members violating the laws and regulations will be automatically delisted.

 

Members of the Alliance who voluntarily agree to and abide by the conditions and articles of incorporation of the Joint Laboratory may be approved for the establishment of Joint Laboratory by the Management Committee. For further information, please contact the Secretariat of the Alliance.
