CUHK, in collaboration with mainland sister institutions include the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ningxia Medical University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Sichuan Province, began offering the summer workshop in 2019 to promote the development of TCM.
The workshop, now in its sixth year, has attracted over 2,000 scholars and professionals from nearly thirty TCM institutions in Mainland China and Hong Kong. After three years of preparation, in 2023, nearly twenty TCM universities from institutions along the Belt and Road jointly established the Alliance, making the workshop a significant annual event under the Alliance.
The workshop aims to enhance the standards of transformation and clinical research in TCM, establish a research and development cooperation network of expert scholars in the field of TCM with an international perspective, and collectively promote the continuous internationalization and industrialization of TCM.
The curriculum covers opportunities in TCM within the Belt and Road and Greater Bay Area, the impact of multidisciplinary research on innovation, methods for transforming Chinese herbal medicine, funding proposal formulation, clinical research standards, high-quality research designs, commercialization, and internationalization. The workshop features lectures, visits, and discussions led by global experts in TCM. The Presidents’ Forum hosted by the Alliance annually will also be part of the curriculum of the workshop to allows the participants to gain insights from global leaders.
